GARSH Expands Specialist Services with Visiting Rheumatologist, Pulmonologist and Advanced Arthroscopy Care
Katsina State Government Strengthens Access to Specialized Healthcare Under Governor Dikko Umar Radda
The Katsina State Government has continued to strengthen access to specialized healthcare services with the introduction of new specialist services and advanced medical equipment at General Amadi Rimi Specialist Hospital (GARSH), Katsina.
Following the gracious approval of His Excellency, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, PhD, CON, Executive Governor of Katsina State, GARSH has commenced services by Visiting Rheumatology and Pulmonology Consultants, providing residents with access to specialized care that has previously required patients to travel outside the state.
VISITING RHEUMATOLOGY AND PULMONOLOGY SERVICES
The commencement of services by a Rheumatologist and Pulmonologist represents an important milestone in the ongoing efforts of the Katsina State Government to expand the range of specialist healthcare services available to the people of the state.
Rheumatology focuses on the diagnosis and management of diseases affecting the joints, muscles, bones and immune system, while pulmonology specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the respiratory system and lungs.
With these services now available on a visiting-consultant basis at GARSH, patients who previously travelled to Kano, Zaria and other locations to access rheumatology and pulmonology services can now be referred to GARSH for specialist assessment, diagnosis and further management.
The development is expected to significantly reduce the financial and logistical burden associated with travelling outside Katsina State for specialized medical care.
ADVANCED ARTHROSCOPIC SERVICES NOW AVAILABLE AT GARSH
In another significant development, GARSH has also taken delivery of a Full HD Arthroscopic Tower, procured by the Katsina State Government under the able leadership of Governor Dikko Umar Radda.
The advanced equipment is expected to enhance the hospital's capacity to provide precise diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment for a range of joint conditions.
Patients suffering from conditions such as ligament tears, meniscus tears, and selected cases of arthritis can now be evaluated for appropriate arthroscopic treatment at GARSH.
Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that allows specialists to examine and treat problems inside a joint through small incisions. The availability of the Full HD Arthroscopic Tower is therefore expected to improve diagnostic accuracy, facilitate minimally invasive procedures, and enhance patient recovery.
The service also provides a foundation for expanding sports medicine services and supporting the management of sports-related musculoskeletal injuries.
